Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism, the first of the three sacraments of initiation is also the first of the seven sacraments in the Roman Catholic Church. It removes the guilt and effects of original sin and incorporates the baptized into the Church, the Mystical Body of Christ on earth.
 

At St. Philomene:

As Catholics, baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of our faith commitment. Infant baptism is for all who are under the age of 7. We celebrate Baptisms on the second Saturday of each month. Prior to Baptism, parents and godparents are invited to attend Baptism Preparation Class on the first Saturday of the month. 

1. Godparents must be married through the Catholic Church or completely single. (not living   with anyone). be practicing Catholic and have the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation.

2. Only two godparents are allowed per child (man & woman), but only one is required.

3. Parents or godparents must be registered in this parish.

4. Please do not bring children to the Pre-Baptismal Class.

5. If you cannot make it to the class or change the day of the baptism, please call the office and let them know.

6. If you are not baptizing here, there is a $50 dollar donation for the class and certificate.

7. Punctuality is very important, both for the class and on the day of baptism.

8. The Baptism Certificate will be mail, please make sure that your address is correct.

If you are interested in baptizing your child, please complete the Baptism Form, Godparent Eligibility Form and return it to the parish office, with copies of the child's birth certificate, church marriage certificate (married couples) or certificates of the 3 sacraments, (single person), along with the donation of $50 dollars, check or cash one month before.

El Sacramento del Bautismo, el primero de los tres sacramentos de iniciación, es también el primero de los siete sacramentos de la Iglesia Católica Romana. Elimina la culpa y los efectos del pecado original e incorpora al bautizado a la Iglesia, el Cuerpo Místico de Cristo en la tierra.

Como católicos, el bautismo es el primer paso en un camino de  vida de nuestro compromiso de fe. El bautismo infantil es para todos los menores de 7 años. Celebramos los bautismos el segundo sábado de cada mes. Antes del bautismo, se invita a los padres y padrinos a asistir a la clase de preparación para el bautismo el primer sábado del mes.


1. Los padrinos deben estar casados por la Iglesia Católica o completamente solteros (no vivir en union libre or estar casados al civil), ser católicos practicantes y haber recibido los sacramentos del Bautismo, la Primera Comunión y la Confirmación.

2. Solo se permiten dos padrinos por niño (hombre y mujer), pero solo uno es requerido.

3. Los padres o padrinos deben estar registrados en esta parroquia, y los padrinos que vienen de fuera traer permiso de su Iglesia.

4. Por favor, no traiga niños a la clase pre-bautismal.

5. Si no puede asistir a la clase o cambiar el día del bautismo, llame a la oficina y avíseles.

6. Si no va a bautizar aquí, hay una donación de $50 dólares para la clase y el certificado.

7. La puntualidad es muy importante, tanto para la clase como para el día del bautismo.

8. El certificado de bautismo se enviará por correo, asegúrese de que su dirección este  correcta.

Si está interesado en bautizar a su hijo, complete el Formulario de bautismo, Formulario de elegibilidad de padrinos y devuélvalo a la oficina parroquial, con las copias de acta de nacimiento, certificado de matrimonio por la iglesia (parejas casadas) o certificados de los 3 sacramentos, junto la donacion de $50 dolares cheque o efectivo un mes antes.
